‍Disabled Access: parking in the station car park, close by (pay), bus stop very close. Ramp to the hall, accessible toilet. Not sure about hearing loop.

Subgroups: lunch club, supper club, craft group, theatre group, Sunday lunch group, book club, plus various activities and outings throughout the year.

Supported charities -  do two over two years. This year Mountbatten and the Lake food bank. Last year Wellow ward and Sight for Wight.  The money us raised through Garden parties, plant sales, Christmas tombola, food collections at our harvest supper for the food bank.

Marion Tuck:

I was born in Shanklin and have lived here most of my life. I trained as a middle school teacher but ended up in the sixth form of St. Georges school  in Newport. I have 4 children, 2 sons  and twin daughters. I enjoy gardening, knitting and sewing and spend most of my summers at my beach hut.

Kate Absolom:

I'm Kate Absolom and I have been President of Shanklin Hyde WI for nearly two years.  A relative newbie to the world of WI, I joined to meet people when we moved to the island 6 years ago and it has not disappointed!  Saved my bacon, and my sanity, when my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's 4 years ago.

I had a rewarding career in special needs education, loved every minute of it, ending up as the Headteacher of a Pupil Referral Unit in downtown south east London.

I have 3 kids and 5 grandchildren, who are all thriving and doing what they're supposed to do.  I swim, read and am learning to play bridge.  Onwards and upwards.
