Disabled Access: Accessible parking.

We meet every  2nd Thursday at Alverstone Old School Hall (PO36 0EZ) at 2pm for our monthly members meeting. The Hall does have steps on the roadside entrance but everything else is on one level. Our Craft Meetings are every 4th Thursday, also at the Hall, 1030am. WI walks tend to be first Wednesday of the month (weather permitting) and Book Club is usually every four or five weeks on a Wednesday at 1230. Also at the Hall unless otherwise stated.

Our next fundraising for Mountbatten is on Sunday 4th May when we hold a refreshment day at the Hall for anyone to attend - walkers, cyclists, villagers or passers by.

Our Charity of the year is Mountbatten and will be again in 2025/26. Last year we raised over £500 for them. Hoping to exceed that this coming WI year.

Our new programme is not available yet, though we have got a full itinerary for the next year planned and booked.

Gail Scott - President

I moved to the Island in 2013 and by November of that year I was a fully paid up member of Alverstone WI. Over those years I have made many friends through WI, and been part of so many events and functions that, had I not joined, would not have experienced.

I have been Secretary and currently am President. I enjoy cooking, craft walking and entertaining.

Annabelle  LeMasurier - Secretary

Lived in Alverstone for 10 years and have made some very good friends through Alverstone WI . Together we have walked hundreds of miles through fantastic landscape in all sorts of weather, read and discussed a wide range of books of varying genres, listened to some excellent speakers, and had a go at many different crafts. We have laughed so much and shared life’s ups and downs. Here’s to many more happy years on the Isle of Wight!  PHOTO

Sylvia Ashpole - Treasurer

I moved to the Isle of Wight in 2015, joined Alverstone WI later that year, and have been treasurer for the past 7 years. Apart from meetings proper, I enjoy the craft and book clubs. I am a member of Ventnor bowling club, a game I love, and also belong to the Newchurch horticultural society. I enjoy walking round Borthwood Copse with my husband and our beautiful labrador Ruby. I like to sew and knit, and grow lots of veggies which get put to good use in the kitchen. Life is good.
